We had a wonderful time at Many Point. Our campsite, as the boys called it, is Black Hawk Down. (Black Hawk) The weather was wonderful. As a scoutmaster being able to watch the boys work together as a team is a pleasure to me. The boys all finished at least 2 merit badges. The coolest part of all, 5 out of the ten boys there moved up a rank in their books. All of our new scouts finished their tenderfoot ranks this year as well. Water polo was a blast, so was greased watermelon. I personally enjoyed watching Steve climb the wall. It was really cool to see. My favorite thing this year was kayaking, since I have never done it before. Also, thanks to Avi and Richard, I found out it isn't very easy to get back in. One of the humorous things they did again this year was the egg toss. They throw an egg as high as they can and try to catch it, without it cracking. Whoever throws it the highest wins. Micheal was the winner. It was really nice to see Alex tease Richard on getting his shotgun merit badge. It was really neat to see Nick finish all his merit badges with flying colors! Zeke and Micheal catch fish that are HUGE! The looked delicious, I only wish I could have tasted it. At least I know they were good, because the raccoon didn't leave a single piece. I was proud to see Scotty finish up his basketry and Leatherwork during free time, it shows dedication. Avi did amazing this week too. He did polar bear and Iron Man. He screams quite well in cold water! Jeremy was very studious in using his free time to complete his merit badges. I think it was great to see a scout do that-a job well done! Benji did a great job with his merit badges too. He put extra effort in to finish them before he left earlier. It shows perseverance. Noah did a wonderful job as a patrol leader. He showed his leadership skills, he is starting to blossom into a Senior Patrol Leader. It was cool to see his smile when he made OA. It was cool that Richard went to flintlock, even though he lost the Atalatl dart. He says its not his fault, the CIT told him "Don't think about it just throw as hard as you can." Then later the CIT said, "I didn't mean throw it 300 ft up hard." At least he got it higher than anyone else. I am looking forward to the Court of Honor and seeing you all earn your merit badges and ranks. I want to give thanks to all the parents and Assistant Scoutmasters, and Marc, that gave their vacation time to make this a great week for everyone up there. A special thanks to Jonathan for staying up with me till 2 in the morning feeding the 50 lb raccoon. It might be a small bear. haha.
